Whitetail Institute has earned its reputation as the trusted subject-matter expert in whitetail nutrition and food plot management, but expertise isn’t a finish line. It’s a commitment. And for us, that commitment is fueled by one thing: curiosity.
Curiosity is the engine of our R&D program. It’s what pushes us into the field when the weather is miserable, keeps us analyzing data long after the sun goes down, and drives us to invest significant time, energy, and financial resources into testing that most companies would never attempt. We don’t do it because it’s easy. We do it because it’s necessary.
Always Learning, Always Testing
Even after decades of leadership in this industry, we’ll be the first to tell you: we don’t know everything. And we never will. That’s the nature of biology, habitat management, and whitetail behavior. There’s always more to learn, more to refine, and more to discover.
Our partnerships with major universities and our nationwide network of dedicated field testers keep that learning pipeline wide open. Every season brings new data, new insights, and new opportunities to push forage performance further than before.
The Forage Pea Project
One of the most exciting developments underway is our multi-year forage pea research initiative. We’re now just a few years away from final selections: genetically superior forage peas that have shown exceptional promise in attraction, palatability, and nutritional benefit.
Once those selections are finalized, they’ll be placed with our expert growers to scale seed production. Only then, when supply meets our standards and performance meets yours, will we bring this product to market.
And when we do, you’ll be able to plant with confidence, knowing your deer will be highly attracted to the plot and nutritionally supported in a way that reflects the very best of modern forage science.
Our mission has always been simple: help deer reach their full potential and help land managers get exceptional results. That mission demands relentless curiosity, rigorous testing, and a refusal to settle for “good enough.”
