Planting a perennial food plot on a hilltop, hillside or in lighter, upland soil?

  • Try Whitetail Institute Imperial Alfa-Rack Plus. Whitetail Institute’s R&D team designed Alfa-Rack Plus to produce an extensive deep-root structure that helps plants thrive on hilltops and hillsides.  Alfa-Rack Plus features grazing alfalfas that are high-protein, drought and cold tolerant, have more leaf relative to stem and are more palatable to deer than ordinary hay alfalfas.  Alfa-Rack Plus also contains Imperial Whitetail Clover and WINA Chicory, which is vastly more palatable to deer than traditional, more waxy textured chicory.

  • This Alfalfa food plot seed for deer is EXTREMELY cold-tolerant

  • Heat, drought and disease-resistant

  • Coated with RainBondTM for enhanced seedling survivability

  • Perennial - Whitetail Institute's Imperial Alfa-Rack Plus lasts up to 5 years from a single planting

Alfa-Rack Plus is deep rooted and has been developed to grow successfully on hilltops, hillsides, and in moderate to well-drained soils.

    Best deer in 50 years

    Posted by Glenn-WV on 5th Dec 2015

I would just like to drop you a line and say thank you for all you have helped me with the food plots I planted in Springfield, West Virginia. This year we saw more bucks and also bigger bucks. In the camp there are 5 of us that hunt and this year we killed 3 8 Point bucks and 1 4 Point Buck. We killed the biggest 8 Point deer that has been killed on the property in over 50 years and I am not making that up. Most of the time we were killing small spikes and maybe a small 4 point but this year we not only killed some big deer but also saw a lot of bucks. There is a big 6 point, 10 point and 12 point that are still roaming the property that were seen so maybe next year. So not as to bore you with my rambling about this year’s deer season I would just like to say the Tall Tine Tubers, Alfa-Rack, and Secret Spot really did the trick. I know the Alfa-Rack I don’t have to replant and I am thinking about doing half of my big plot in Tall Tine Tubers and the other half is something else you all have. Anyway I am a poster child for Whitetail Institute and have told a lot of my hunting buddies.

Good growth the second time I planted it. I didn't soil test and had to had 1,500lbs of lime. I did it and now it's growing well and the deer are in it all day.

    Tested and proven

I wrote a comment several years ago. I was not seeing the fast development I expected. Well, I should have waited to write. This our 3rd year with the Alfa-Rack and the deer are pounding it along with your Ambush. Thanks and from now on I know perennials establish a little slower than annuals but they last a long time. WOW

    Third planting.

Posted by Fred H., Marion Ar. on 30th Aug 2015

I will be planting Alfa Rack Plus for the third time this fall (same location). I have been impressed with it's drought resistance and winter hardiness. This fall will start my 11th year. Seeing more deer and heavier racks. It's been a great option for me. I have other plots on my property that vary year by year but I intend to keep this product on at least one. Thanks Whitetail institute!

5 YEARS OF BIGGER BETTER DEER

Posted by Dr. Tom D. on 31st Jul 2015

The last 5 years I have used Alfa-rack and my deer are always amaze the processors. They are consistently 20-40 pounds larger with heavier larger racks. This was not true before Alfa-rack,I had average deer.I am miles from any agricultural crops, so they eat what I plant.I also plant some Imperial Whitetail clover and Extreme. If you want bigger and better give them a chance.

    First Time Using

Posted by Andrew Milanowski on 12th Jun 2015

Looking for a perennial on a special spot on the farm and decided to try Imperial Alfa-Rack this fall. I have used Whitetail Institute products in the past and was very pleased and I am confident I will have the same success with this product.

Deer hammer it from March - December

Extremely happy with this food plot blend. I was so impressed with performance of an Alfarack plot planted last year that I added a second plot this Spring . Deer seem to love it .

    Best clover/alfalfa blend out there

Posted by Tyler B. on 21st May 2015

I have installed this blend on several hunting properties with great results. Fast growing, drought resistant, winter hardy, and the wildlife love it! Just remember to amend your soil first and follow the directions from Whitetail Institute. You won't regret it!
