Imperial Whitetail Oats Plus is an oat-based product that is extremely attractive and winter hardy.

When a university tested different oat varieties for grain production, the grazing pressure by deer on one specific variety was so heavy it was eliminated from the tests.  Whitetail Institute found out about this variety and its testing proved that the oat was highly preferred by deer because of the oat’s high sugar content and that it is very winter-hardy. The result is Imperial Whitetail Oats Plus – the PREMIUM oat planting for deer that establishes and grows quickly, contains high levels of sugar for maximum attraction, and provides enhanced cold-tolerance.

  • PREMIUM winter oats for deer that are designed for early fall planting
  • Highly attractive to deer with a high sugar content
  • Includes Whitetail Oats – an oat variety so attractive it was removed from university grain-production trials and shelved due to heavy grazing by deer. This exclusive Oat is only available in Whitetail Institute products.
  • Winter hardy
  • Includes small amounts of a specially selected triticale to boost cold-tolerance even further

    Reliable producer

Of all the seed we try planting, Oats PLus is always the most reliable for germination and production. The deer and turkeys love it. And it comes up quickly. We often have our fall annual plots fail due to dry late summer weather, but we are able to plant the Oats Plus as late as early September to salvage our foodplots. Good product.

    Great stuff

First year using WTI oats and I am very impressed, the deer keep it eaten down to ground level while other seed planted is up and not being eaten as much. Will definitely buy again.

    Awesome Product

Whitetail Oats is one of the best products I’ve used from Whitetail Institute. I’ve planted it in two 1 acre fields at opposite ends of my farm and the deer are crushing it. Just watched a herd of deer in one of the fields feed on it for almost two hours before being spooked off by a flock of wandering turkeys. I will definitely be planting more of this from now on.

    Impressive Growth

Posted by Rich S. on 12th Nov 2019

This was my first time trying Whitetail Oats Plus. First time trying AND on first time soil, and I’m not expert farmer. This stuff grew WELL and pretty thick considering my lack in existing vegetation removal. I planted it in a power line clearing about 115 yards long by 5-8 yards wide. It did WELL! I’ll be using this again.

    WTI Oats vs. Competitors

Posted by Dean B. on 14th Aug 2019

I grew WTI oats last year and they definitely attracted deer so, I planted them again this year. My brother in law planted competitors forage oats. I really can't comment on the germination rate or how palatable they are to deer but, just in terms of broadcasting them through my seeder, WTI oats were "well" worth the price. Even with my seeder wide open, the competitors oats took at least 3 times longer to spread. I also noticed that competitors oats had a lot of chaf. WTI ,definitely, does a superior job at winnowing and removing chaf. I will continue to use WTI oats and not even consider other options like my brother in law. I think he will also switch back next year.

    Deer Magnet

This was the second time I used this product with great results. The first time I planted a 1/4 acre plot in the center of a timothy/clover field. It germinated extremely fast and the deer ate it even faster. It never managed to get taller than 3 inches because the deer were in it at all times of the day according to the trail cameras. My second try with the White tail oats I doubled the size of the oats section to 1/2 acre in the same field. Same results just more deer! Best attractant product I've used for the early seasons.
