Imperial Whitetail Oats Plus is an oat-based product that is extremely attractive and winter hardy.

When a university tested different oat varieties for grain production, the grazing pressure by deer on one specific variety was so heavy it was eliminated from the tests.  Whitetail Institute found out about this variety and its testing proved that the oat was highly preferred by deer because of the oat’s high sugar content and that it is very winter-hardy. The result is Imperial Whitetail Oats Plus – the PREMIUM oat planting for deer that establishes and grows quickly, contains high levels of sugar for maximum attraction, and provides enhanced cold-tolerance.

  • PREMIUM winter oats for deer that are designed for early fall planting
  • Highly attractive to deer with a high sugar content
  • Includes Whitetail Oats – an oat variety so attractive it was removed from university grain-production trials and shelved due to heavy grazing by deer. This exclusive Oat is only available in Whitetail Institute products.
  • Winter hardy
  • Includes small amounts of a specially selected triticale to boost cold-tolerance even further

Excellent forage for fall hunting. Deer come in to this plot from all directions to feed before sunset. I guarantee all my hunters an adult doe from this plot every time.

Got 7 deer from 2 adjoining plots

Posted by Steve P. on 14th Mar 2016

We planted this late in the recommended planting season to to weather constraints. It grew great in both plots but better in the one that we used a cultipacker. Rarely did any of us hunt this spot without there being deer. Easy to grow and very attractive to deer. We are 70 miles SW of Nashville and as of March 13th the deer are still eating on it.

    Deer magnet!!!!!

Posted by Chad on 10th Dec 2015

I planted my first test food plot back in August of this year...used WI oats plus...it didnt have time to grow to full size because the deer kept it mowed down...i up up a small cage to monitor growth and in that area it got 3 foot tall...it was green and lush within 2 weeks...plant just before a good rain and i mean the eve of the rain....it is now December and the plot is still green and deer use it daily...i took the biggest buck of my life this year and his stomach was full of oats plus...i now have another big one chasing doe in the plot....since planting ive had 10 or more bucks using it...i just cant say enough about this product...i planted 1/2 an acre and the soil wasnt the best.. next year i plan to expand to a full acre and treat the soil....cant wait to plant...stop reading and buy it already....you wont be sorry...

    Winter Oats Works

Posted by Bob S. on 14th Nov 2015

I first planted this 2 years ago in a quarter acre plot after 2 unsuccessful earlier plantings. Those attempts failed due to poor weather conditions and over browsing. Winter Oats overcame wet weather and browsing and still provided an appealing plot. Harvested 3 deer during archery season in that quarter acre plot. Planted again this year and already ordered more for next year.

    Best oats yet

Posted by Chris on 25th Oct 2015

I planted this product for the first time this season. I didn't know what to expect. I do now. The deer won't leave it alone. Very easy to plant and grow and the deer love it. Have already bought more for next year.

    Good as a cover crop

Posted by Unknown on 23rd Oct 2015

I have not planted this batch yet, only having bought it because it was on sale. It will not be planted until next fall. I had purchased some last fall and planted it along with Whitetail Clover to take the initial pressure off the clover. It worked very well for that.
