Deer feed on Fusion for hours,

Posted by Paul B. on 18th Sep 2016

I live in north western Wisconsin, in the spring I planted a 1/4 acre Fusion plot next to my backyard so I could watch the deer and know how it is working. I mowed the plot then after a couple days I sprayed it with Round Up, after 2 weeks I disced the plot and applied 100 lbs. of 12-12-12 fertilizer, we have had good rain this summer so I didn't need to water it.The plants came up quickly and thickened up quick. After a few weeks I sprayed it with Arrest to kill the persistent grasses that sprouted, I have mowed it 4 times through the summer to control weeds. Deer and turkeys come to the Fusion several times a day. The most interesting and exciting thing is they feed in this food plot for hours. Deer and turkeys don't just browse through, they frequently feed there for 2 hours. It is common to have 10 deer in the food plot at the same time. I have seen flocks of 20 to 30 turkeys in there for 2 hours as well. With that much traffic you would think it would be browsed off but it isn't, this stuff is thick and grows rapidly. I haven't seen any big bucks feeding in it but that close to my house I didn't really think I would, but when you have as many does there as I am seeing, it is only a matter of time before the big boys show up.

    A Lush Buffet

Posted by Seamus L. on 27th Aug 2016

I always try to test different things in my food plot. I use 1/4 acre of my food plot for this activity. With temps 15 to 20 degrees below normal and more than ample rainfall I planted early. After my soil test and augmenting the soil I got it planted just before the rain. We received more than 4" inches of hard driving rain that washed a good deal of the seed or covered it over with too much soil. What came up is growing well, what become covered up is still coming up slowly. I may have to over seed any bare spots in a week or two. What is growing well the deer are feasting on it. I would guess that all the rain is better than a drought. Very GOOD Product. Thanks !

    Grows Fast

Posted by Richard on 2nd Jul 2016

I live in central Maine and planted fusion two weeks ago after applying the recommended amounts of lime and fertilizer. I planted June 18th three days after the recommended spring planting date because I had an equipment issue. Four days after I planted the seed we had a good steady rain totaling about an inch and a half the days prior to the rain and two days after it was sunny and in the low 80's. Six days after planting the seed was already starting to sprout. Twelve days after seeding and it was about a quarter of an inch but still to small for the deer to eat. I have used most of the whitetail institutes products and have been very happy and the deer seem to love them too. I have know doubt given the success or the first two weeks fusion will be a winner as well.

    Pretty good results

Posted by Chad from Missouri on 28th Apr 2016

I went step by step. From soil test all the way down to the right fertilizers and chemicals To put down. And I'd have to say that I am pleased on how well it came up. Worth ever penny. Although with the cool weather in my area, it took 32 days to germinate, it's doin great now!
